June 2, 1960 - January 27, 2020 On Thursday, June 2, 1960, Mr. Deloria Lee Jones was born to the proud parents of Fred Jones Jr. and Jannie Lee Moore Jones in Houston, TX. He was raised in Crosby and Barrett Station, TX, baptized at an early age and was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Church under the late Reverend Hardy. Deloria was known by many as “Brother, Bro, Lee and Mister”. Before graduating from Crosby High School ISD, as a running back, Deloria and his best friend/classmate the late Leonard Simpson, quarterback, led the Crosby Cougars to State Finals in 1978 and 1979. Deloria continued his education and athletic aspirations at Texas Southern University and played Semi Professional Football in Houston with “The Houston Gamblers”. He later joined the United State Army and received an honorable discharge. He returned home and began working for the US Steel and Power Plant. Deloria relocated to Grapeland, TX, and reunited with Rising Star Baptist Church. Deloria lived his life to the fullest. He loved his grandchildren and touched the lives of everyone who knew him or came into contact with him. He always greeted everyone respectfully with a smile, handshake, hug and sometimes a kiss. Deloria will be very much remembered as a sweet and loving spirit. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Deloria departed this life on Monday, January 27, 2020, at 8:10 PM, in Lufkin, TX.
