Althea Mae Shepherd was the second child born to Lorraine Irving Webber and Johnny Jones, Sr., on August 8, 1948, in Huntsville, TX. Althea grew up and attended school in the Huntsville community. She accepted Christ at Greater Zion Baptist Church, Huntsville, TX, at an early age.
As a young girl, Althea moved to Houston, TX, where she met and married Willie Fadell Shepherd; to this union, five children were born.
Althea was a beautiful woman with an outgoing personality who loved interior design, hanging wallpaper, cooking meals for her growing family, and talking and sharing laughs with family and friends.
She worked as a Certified Nurse Aid at Elkhart Oaks for many years before her health began to deteriorate.
Althea transitioned peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Windfield Health Care in Crockett, TX.
Althea is preceded in death by both parents Lorraine Webber and Johnny Jones, Sr., and brothers Johnny Jones, Jr., Mitchell Jones, and Raymond Williams.
Althea was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Left to cherish Althea’s loving memories are husband, Willie Fadell Shepherd, Grapeland, TX; son, Edwin Dion Shepherd, Grapeland, TX; daughters, Jacquelyn (Leroy) Robertson, Grapeland, TX, Joselyn (LaQuisha) Shepherd, Jeselyn (Mathew) Simon, and Jennifer Shepherd of Crockett, TX; brother, Winford (Sharon) Jones, Humble, TX; sisters, Annie Jones and Nita Jones of Dallas, TX; aunts, Sue (Benie) Daniels, Billie (Dennis) Mark, and Margie (Leon) Williams; uncle, Joseph (Josephine) Irving; nine (9) grandchildren; six (6) great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
