Berniece Davison

Berniece M. Hawkins Davison (97) was born September 5, 1923 to Bennie and Beatrice Hawkins. Berniece was a beautiful child and took her education seriously. She adored and looked up to her older sister, Juanita Busby. She joined Lee’s Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Navasota, TX at an early age. As a young adult she attended Texas Southern University, formally known as Texas College for Negros. She graduated with a degree in education.

Shortly after college she met her husband Kermit Davison. They had two beautiful children, a son named Gerald and daughter name Karen, who was affectionately known as Punkin.

Kermit and Berniece owned several businesses throughout their marriage. She also worked for twenty-years for the Texas Department of Corrections. She loved attending social functions such as the Navasota High School Reunion. She was also very active with Bracken’s Christian Fellowship Club. She loved her friendships - and considered her friends as her family.

She would make sure to visit Sister baby - Willie Davison, Aunt Sister - Minnie B. Baker and Ansteria Davison. She had a total of 11 sisters and brothers and enjoyed visiting and caring for them throughout the years.

Her love for her family was like no other. She was madly in love with her husband and her husband and kids came first. She was a fairytale grandmother - we were all so lucky to have her as the matriarch of the family.

Berniece was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and her last church affiliation was St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Berniece Davison had a beautiful personality and beautiful style. She looked how she felt, which was great!

Berniece is preceded in death by her parents Bennie and Beatrice Hawkins, husband Kermit Davison, son, Gerald Davison, daughter Karen Davison Brooks and sisters, Juanita Busby, Calli Boone Day, Junita Catherine Busby.

Left to carry on her legacy are her grandchildren, grandson, Noa Davison; granddaughters Ebony Brooks King (Ronnie), and Brooklyn Brooks; siblings Annie Mae Dennis (Richard), Andrenette Boudreaux, Linda Robinson Boggess (Oloie) Linda Bogess (Obie), Jewell Seymore (Marilyn), Carolyn Collins (Alfred), Herbert Williams, William Jade Robinson, and Tera Robinson and a host of relatives, and friends.
