Delbert Wayne McKnight was born February 16, 1955, in Crockett, TX to Bennie and Sara Sapp McKnight. Delbert was the thirteenth child born to this union. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Delbert received his education at Williams High School in Crockett, TX. He began working at Houston County Rural Electric Co-Op at an early age and remained there for forty-one (41) years as “Right of Way Foreman” until he retired in 2017.
From his first union, he had two children, LaMeca and Derrick. He raised two step-children, Marvin and Rachelle, who he also loved dearly.
Delbert Wayne McKnight, also fondly known as “Poncho”, loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Bennie and Sara McKnight; brothers Alton McKnight, Bonnie Ray McKnight, Henry B. McKnight and Joe Edd McKnight; sisters Viola McKnight-Leonard, May D. McKnight-Bryant; and son, Marvin Burns.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of nineteen (19) years, Sheria Houston McKnight; children LaMeca Davis (Reggie) of Houston, TX, Rachelle Smith, Ayanna Buckingham, and April and Amber Hackett, all of Crockett, TX; sons Derrick McKnight of Crockett, TX; sisters Easter LeVean McKnight-Riley of Crockett, TX, Lillie McKnight Hopkins (B.B.) of Houston, TX, and Theressa McKnight-King of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers Jessie McKnight and Isaiah McKnight of Crockett, TX, Jack McKnight of Tyler, TX; thirteen (13) grandchildren and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation: Friday, May 25, 2018, Walker & Walker 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Service: Saturday, May 26, 2018, St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 1:00 PM
Interment: Mount Moriah Cemetery Crockett, TX
