On the blessed day of March 27, 1921, Eddie Bailey was born to the late Moun Douglas Bailey and Everlena “Starks” Bailey in Tyler, Texas.
As a young boy, Eddie grew up in Tyler, Texas, where he worked on farms to help support his family. Eddie was a very hard worker and always encouraged the men in his family to do the same. He was kind-hearted and generous, even to those he didn’t know. He would give you the shirt off his back and expect nothing in return.
In 1946, Eddie met and married Leoda Stubblefield and to this union, 6 children were born. He was a longtime employee of Champion Paper Mill in Pasadena, TX, where he retired. As a retiree he spent his time visiting family, barbecuing or “out there on the water” with his sons. He encouraged his family to enjoy life, have fun, love one another and “put back a Lil’ something for retirement”. Everybody loved Pops.
With the blessing of being reared in a Christian household, Eddie devoted his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of Loyal Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX, until his health failed.
Eddie Lee Bailey, who shared ninety-four (94) blessed years on earth, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife Leoda Bailey; children Paul (Lillie) Bailey, and Marion Walker of Grapeland, TX, Myrian (LeVern) Walker, Jocelyn (William) Bailey, and Katherine (Reginald) Middleton of Houston, TX; brothers Tasco Bailey, Tyler, TX, Luther Bailey, Las Vegas, NV, and Samuel Bailey, Tyler, TX; twenty-four (24) grandchildren, seventy-two (72) great-grandchildren, (16) great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
