Eddie Lee Walker

Eddie Lee, the fifth (5th) child of nine (9), born to Walter B. and Daisy Moore Walker, on March 10, 1939, in the Hayes Springs Community of Grapeland, Texas. Growing up in a large family, he learned the values of faith, love, and community from an early age.

His spiritual journey began at Rising Star Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at an early age. As an adult, Eddie became a dedicated member of Progressive Missionary Baptist before reuniting with his childhood church, Rising Star Baptist, where he served as a Deacon until his passing.

On February 29, 1963, Eddie married Shirley Ann Lewis, and together they raised four beloved sons: Rickey, Kelvin, Aundre’a, and Brandon.

For thirty-four (34) years, Eddie devoted himself to Houston County Electrical Co-Op, excelling as a lineman crew foreman before retiring in 2002. His commitment to his work was matched only by his unwavering dedication to his family and faith.

Eddie found joy in simple pleasures like barbecuing, spending time outdoors, listening to music, watching Westerns and Action Movies, and fishing.

In his passing on Friday, September 27, Deacon Eddie Lee leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and church community.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Walker B. and Daisy Walker, his wife Shirley Ann Walker, and brothers Andrew B. Walker, B.J. Walker, George Walker, Lee Arthur Mosley, and Gus L. Walker.

Eddie's legacy lives on through his sons: Rickey Gilmore, Sr., Kelvin Walker (Loretta Davis), Aundre’a Walker (Sharonda), and Brandon Walker (Lafonda Warner), all residing in Crockett, Texas; brothers Wilbert Walker, Charles Walker, a special brother Charles (C.T.) Taylor; sister Willie Maude Jackson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
