Edward Derrick Shepherd

Edward Derrick Shepherd was born on March 16, 1961, in Houston, Texas, to the late Ruby Faye Johnson-Jones and Edward Shepherd. He was a proud graduate of Forest Brook High School.

Following his graduation, Derrick enlisted in the United States Navy, where he faithfully served his country. While stationed in Hawaii in 1987, he met Lynne, and the two were united in marriage in 1988. From this union, they were blessed with three children: Edward “Lil Derrick” Shepherd II, and twin daughters, Sierra and Tierra Shepherd.

Derrick was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Faye Johnson-Jones; his brother, Anthony Gabriel Shepherd; his maternal grandparents, Elzada Taylor Johnson and Thurman Johnson; and his paternal grandparents, R.L. Shepherd and Jessie Bell Johnson Shepherd.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lanita Lynne Shepherd of Jacksonville, Florida; his son, Edward “Lil Derrick” Shepherd II (Beata) of Conroe, Texas; his beloved grandson, Edward Derrick “Tre” Shepherd III; his daughters, Sierra Shepherd and Tierra Shepherd of Jacksonville, Florida; his father, Edward Shepherd (Gloretha)

of Grapeland, Texas; his brothers, Rodney "Moon" Simpson of Boston, Massachusetts, and Dr. Jason Shepherd (Ashley) of Arkansas; his sisters, Tami Shepherd-Simon (Victor) of Latexo, Texas, and Revodia Shepherd of Grapeland, Texas; his nephews, Anthony “Tony” Gabriel Shepherd II, Demelius Simpson, Victor “Lil Earl” Simon, and Corde’ Simon; his nieces, LaDerika Simon, Jada Shepherd, Brylei Howard, Brooklyn White, and Jordyn Shepherd; one great-nephew, Isreal “Izzy” Shepherd; one great-niece, Zylah Jackson; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory.
