Mrs. Edwina Bernard Hennessey departed this life on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, after a courageous battle with pulmonary disease. Mrs. Hennessey was born to Lola Smith and Mr. Edwin Gregory on September 9, 1935,
in Harlem, New York. The youngest of two sisters, Mrs. Deloris Coleman, and Mrs. Josephine Landry, she was affectionately called “Tiny” as she was born premature. Edwina was born and raised in Harlem, New York, and attended the New York school system. Early in life, she met and married Mr. Kenneth Hennessey in New York City, New York. To this loving union, one son, Edwin Hennessey was born. Edwin was the love of her life.
Edwina had a spirit of adventure and truly loved living life to the fullest. She enjoyed living in Los Angeles, California, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Houston, Texas and Grapeland, Texas. Edwina was really a devoted daughter, she moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to help take care of her mother, Lola Smith in Grapeland, Texas.
To cherish fond memories and loving thoughts, she leaves to mourn her only son, Mr. Edwin Hennessey, Gulfport, Mississippi, two granddaughters, Ashlee Nicole Hennessey Reese and Rhian Shantell Hennessey, two great-grandsons Aaydin Collins and Iyan Mayo, two loving sisters, Mrs. Delores Coleman, Grapeland, Texas and Mrs.Josephine Landry, Houston, Texas. One kind and loving niece that was a true daughter, Mrs. Sandra Burkins and three nephews: Mr. Kenneth Burkins (Ms. Etta McDaniels) Mr. Mark Williams III (Mrs. Marcia Williams) and Mr. Fredrick A. Williams (Ms. Thelma Jones). Special friends Lynda Caster and Debra Gilmore. Special recognition to Mr.Christopher Burkins, a great nephew who gave his all with tender love and care
