Gus L. Walker (84) was born January 22, 1938 to B. Walker and Daisey Moore Walker. He was raised in the Hayes Springs Community of Grapeland, TX. Gus accepted Christ and united with Rising Star Baptist Church at a young age, and remained a member until his health began to fail. He loved his Rising Star Church Family. He was a proud graduate of W.R. Banks Class of 1959.
Gus worked and retired from Houston County Precinct 2, as a road grader.
Gus had a big heart, always helping people whenever he could. He was a family man - a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin.
He loved the great outdoors: fishing, hunting and to growing plants. He also had a love for running Gus L.’s Café, shooting pool and dancing.
Gus received his wings on Friday the 13th surrounded by loved ones.
Gus is preceded in death by both parents, B. Walker and Daisy Moore Walker, sons Gus Leon, Darrell (Dyke) Wayne, Gregory Walker and daughter Gale Walker.
Left to continue Gus’ legacy is his loving and caring wife of thirty-five years, Sandra Walker; sons Otis Walker, Charles Heart (Tashaun), Paul Heart (Neeky) and Travis Hart (Angela), all of Grapeland, TX; daughters Rose Davis, Grapeland, TX, Regina Johnson, Crockett, TX and Stephanie (Kent) Walker, Grapeland, TX; brothers Eddie Lee Walker, Crockett, TX, Wilbert Walker, and Charles Walker, Grapeland, TX; sister Willie M. Jackson, Dallas, TX; twenty-two (22) grandchildren, forty-three (43) great-grandchildren; special brother Charles (C.T.) Taylor; daughter-in-law Brenda Walker, three (3) god-daughters; his Mosley Sisters’; sisters-in-law Ella Broussard, Bertha (Ronnie) Bryant; Sue Mosley, Bobbie A. Walker, special families: Morrison, Lott’s, Scott’s, Shepherds, Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
