On 21 February 1943 in Grapeland Texas, Albert Govan Shepherd and Elsie (Wallace) Shepherd became the proud parents of a baby boy whom they named Homer Earl. He was the sixth of nine children. Affectionally called Pa, Homer accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Greater New Hope Baptist Church, in Grapeland, Texas.
Pa attended W. R. Banks High School where he participated on the football team and the basketball team. (He got better every ten years) After graduation he moved to Dallas and joined the workforce as a laborer and later became a warehouse manager before retirement. He married Evelyn Wheeler on 18 July 1975.
Homer departed his earthly body on Thursday 27 April 2023. He is proceeded in death by his parents Albert and Elsie Shepherd; sister Doris Faye Shepherd; brother James Wadell Shepherd, sister Billye Ann Crockett, and sister Doris Maxine Gowans.
Homer leaves behind to mourn him, his loving wife Mrs. Evelyn Shepherd, son Barron Earl Shepherd (Carolyn) son Homer Earl Shepherd Jr., son Keith Roshun Davis (Angela) daughter Reva Yvonne McGibboney (Earl) daughter Shirley Rochelle Davis, daughter Terri Lynn Brice (Rickey) sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, Brother Milton Shepherd, Sister Hazel Lafall, Brother Roy Shepherd (Betty) and Brother Morris Shepherd (Rosella) , and a named dog Fefe.
