James Lee Coleman, Sr.

On March 11, 1938, a warm baby boy was born to Henry and Costell Coleman whom they named James Lee. James, also affectionately known as “Nick” spent most of his youth life in Grapeland where he attended public schools including W.R Banks High School. Also as a young man he spent a great deal of time residing with his uncle Louis Coleman where he established a long lasting relationship with his cousins and extended family in Houston. In 1964, he met and married the love of his life, Daisy Mae Mosley. In 1968, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and was called to be a preacher under the mentorship of the late Reverend Napoleon Curvey. In 1978, he and his wife, Daisy organized the House of Prayer Revival Center in Grapeland where he served as the overseer. Also for many years and he and his wife could be heard singing and preaching over the airwaves every Sunday morning on KIVY Radio Station in Crockett. In the early 1980s his church forged a strong relationship with the S.D. James Evangelistic Pentecostal Association where he made and cultivated many lifetime friends. He was a Bible scholar who served in the gospel ministry for over 53 years. Finally, he worked as pulpwood contractor and an employee for Vulcraft Nucor Corporation in Grapeland for a number of years.

In the latter part of his life he loved praying for the sick in nursing centers, visiting his grandchildren, watching the NBA Lakers, the NFL Dallas Cowboys, Western Movies and reading his Bible. He supported his daughter's Pastor Brenda Faulk as an Associate Minister at Bread of Life Evangelistic Pentecostal Church in Palestine, Texas.
