James Carrol Watson was the oldest of three children born to James “Pete” and Mary Watson on March 14, 1978 in Palestine, Texas.
Most people knew James as “Wonks”. He had a heart as big as Texas, and never met a stranger. If you only knew him for the troubles he had, you didn’t know him well. James loved the Lord and knew the Good Book front to back.
James graduated from Grapeland High School in 1996. He was a member of the baseball and golf team, and enjoyed spending time with his classmates.
James was a Jack of all trades, and could teach you anything…. from hitting a golf ball to building a house - he knew it all.
In recent years, he spent most of his time loving on his grand-babies. When he wasn’t doing that, you could likely find him across someone’s fence at a fishing hole.
Though he struggled greatly with his health in his final years, his family takes comfort knowing he is now at peace.
James went to be with the Lord at the age of 43, on September 19, 2021.
Left to continue his legacy is his parents Pete and Mary Watson, son Blake Watson (Kelsie) of Grapeland, TX; daughters Atlana Watson (Connor), and Mary Jane both of Grapeland, TX Sydney Watson (Tink) of Lahaina, Maui, sister Heather Chipman (Jesse) and brother Cade Watson both of Grapeland, TX. Grandchildren Jesse James Watson, James Carrol St. John, Keiundra Lynn McQuirter, Oakley Creek Watson, Sloane Ivey St. John, Baby McQuirter, coming soon, and a host of relatives and friends.
