Joyce Ann Phillips was born to the union of James Davis and Ella Mae Carr Davis Strong on March 8, 1956, in Crockett, TX, and was raised in the Anderson Chapel Community.
She met and married Charles E. Phillips at the young age of eighteen 18; and to this union two (2) daughters were born, Shametrice S. Phillips and Tifanay N. Phillips.
Joyce worked at Crockett Care Center for twenty-six (26) years. After leaving Crockett Care Center she began a second career with Crockett Independent School District as a bus driver until retirement. After retirement Joyce’s health began to decline.
On June 25, 2022 Joyce answered God’s call at 1:40 AM at Christus Trinity Mother Frances, in Tyler, TX. Her daughter Shametrice and only granddaughter Sha’Haven were by her side as she took her last breath.
Joyce is preceded in death by both parents, James A. Davis, and Ella Mae Carr Davis Strong; sister Brenda Johnson, nephew Cannon D. Ellis, and brother-in-law John L. Taylor.
Joyce leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of forty-eight years (48) Charles E. Phillips, daughters Shametrice S. Phillips and Tifanay N. Phillips; granddaughter Sha’Haven V.J. Cook, brother George Davis (Beverly); sister, May J. Taylor; special cousins Dottie Martin; Johnnie Faye, special friends Etta Taylor, Ada Hackney, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
