Kenneth Wayne Shepherd

May 2, 1978 - August 10, 2026

God sent Kenneth Wayne Shepherd into this world on May 2, 1978, to Mr. Roy and Mrs. Bettye Shepherd. He spent most of his childhood in LaPlace, LA. Kenneth was steep in his Christian faith and was baptized in 1989 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, in Reserve LA. As a young man, he found great joy in being active in many of the church activities, such as the Annual Christmas play, Junior Choir, Sunday School and other Youth Ministry activities. He attended East Saint John High School and was a proud graduate of the class of 1996. He went on to join the Louisiana National Guard in January 1998. Kenneth was also an alumnus of Southern University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

Kenneth was a lifetime contributor to making the world a better place. Through his words and deeds Kenneth worked tirelessly at various social organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and man-kind. Kenneth's final job was working as a Claims Specialist for State Farm in Richardson Texas. From social work, to teaching, to State Farm, Kenneth left a legacy of caring and commitment to causes greater than himself.

Kenneth departed his earthly body on 10 August 2026 and is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Albert and Elsie Shepherd and James and Helen Taylor.

Kenneth leaves behind to mourn him, his loving parents, Roy and Bettye Shepherd of LaPlace La, sisters Tanya Patterson of Houston Texas, Dimitria Hurry (Demetrius) of Pensacola, Florida, Roy Shepherd Jr (Melissa) of LaPlace, La., Kendrick Shepherd (Kim) of Monroe, Louisiana. Kenneth also leaves nephews and nieces and a host of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins to mourn his loss.
