LARRY was born on November 7, 1947 in Augusta, Texas, to the late S.T. Simpson Thomas and L.C. Oldums. He received his baptism at Brewington B.C. at a young age and attended W. R. Banks School in Grapeland, Texas. Larry passed away on August 20, 2023, at Elkhart Oaks in Elkhart, Texas.
LARRY was an affable individual, recognized by everyone in the neighborhood as “Uncle Larry.” He held a deep affection for all his nieces and nephews, and he had a reputation for looking out for all the children in the community. Additionally, he enthusiastically devoted his time as a dedicated volunteer at Grab A Bite Restaurant, a business that had become like a second family to him. He also took pleasure in caring for his two wonderful great nieces Brylei and Brooklyn and special friend Bryce.
Preceding him in death were his parents, as well as his son Dondre Calloway. Additionally, he was preceded by three sisters: Annie Walker, Wilma Tillis, and Helen Simpson, along with brothers Charlie Thomas, Leroy Thomas, and Thomas Simpson. Left to cherish his memories are his son Steve Applings, Aunt Glinda Simpson, brother Clemmon (Mary) Sadler, Gloretha (Edward) Shepherd, Lillie (Paul) Bailey, and Delbert (Vanessa) Simpson.
