Lorene Wooten McKnight was born on June 13, 1935, in Vistula, TX (Houston County), to the parents of Lee Wooten, Sr., and Savannah Gainous Wooten. She attended school in Vistula.
Lorene McKnight was a kind and loving woman that grew up in a loving family.
Lorene accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age, later she relocated to Lovelady, TX, where she met and married W.D. McKnight (Buddy). She united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and attended faithfully until her health would no longer allow her to attend service.
Lorene and Buddy provided a loving home for their 6 sons and 3 daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who was very caring. She loved her family unconditionally. For many years, she was a seamstress at Earl Manufacture in Lovelady which later relocated to Crockett, TX. She was also a caregiver and provided in-home private care because she loved helping others. During her spare time, she would go and visit the sick and shut-in and loved being outside working in her garden.
Lorene heard the gentle whisper, of the heavenly father, she answered and ascended with a peaceful smile to be with the Lord on July 29, 2023, 11:40 am at Creekside Retirement Community, in Huntsville TX.
Lorene is preceded in death by both parents, Lee Wooten, Sr., and Savannah Gainous Wooten; two (2) sons, Archie Lee McKnight (Hazel McKnight, daughter-in-law) and Eddie Boyd McKnight; four (4) sisters, Rosie Mae, Ivory Lee Scurlock, Stella and Gertrude Hughes; four (4) brothers, Lee Wooten, Jr., Floyd Wooten, Vertis Wooten and Roosevelt Butler.
