Margaret Jean Childress, 95, of Grapeland, TX, died June 22, in Crockett, TX.
Margaret was born August 21, 1930, in Roxton, TX, a daughter of James Garner Robertson and Margaret Cleo Robertson where she lived and graduated from Roxton High School.
She married Truman Lee Childress on March 24, 1950, in Lubbock, TX. Margaret was mother to 3 children. She was a homemaker and retail cashier before moving into a position of secretary for an oil company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in DeLeon, TX then in later years the First Baptist Church of Grapeland. She was a proud life-member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served in many offices culminating as Worthy Matron. Margaret volunteered for DeLeon community and civic events as well as at the DeLeon Elementary School. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a fan of John Elway and the Oklahoma Sooners!
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Truman Childress, her parents, one brother, Ronnie Robertson; sisters, Kay Hodge, and Jimmie Lindsay.
Margaret is survived by her son, Eddie Childress and wife Toni, one brother, Jack Robertson of Lubbock, TX; one sister, Barbara Jo Pennington of Broken Arrow, OK; Grandsons, Tee Jay Maness, Dusty Maness, Casey Childress, Nathan Childress; granddaughters, Andi Childress Bleakley, and Meredyth Childress-LaVigne. She was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial gathering held by the family at a date to be determined.
