
Maryan Dickson Green, was born January 26, 1953, to the late Robert Lee
Dickson and Johnnie Mae Walker Dickson, in Grapeland, Texas. At an early
age, Maryan accepted Christ, was baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist
Church in Grapeland, Texas.
Maryan, attended Roe’s Chapel Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She later
united with the Church of Ninevah, founded by her sister, Dr. Angie Dickson,
now under the leadership of Pastor Andra Reed.
Maryan attended W.R. Banks High School but graduated from Grapeland
High School after integration. Following graduation, she moved to Dallas,
attended El Centro College; and graduated from Southern Methodist
University, earning a B.S. in Education and a M.S. in Counseling.
She worked as a teacher and later counselor in Dallas Independent School
District, where she retired after 29 years.
Maryan departed this earthly life at 11:09 A.M., on May 21, 2024 in the
comfort of her own home, joining her parents, Robert and Johnnie M. Dickson;
two (2) brothers John Dickson, and Clearance Dickson; three sisters Dr. Angie
Dickson, Robbie Dickson, and Bobbie Reed; two nephews, Joseph T. Reed,
and Patrick Crowder (Rashunda); and ex-spouse, Artis G. Green.
Left to cherish her memories and continue her legacy is her only child, Armelia
“Mia” Evans; spouse, Calvin Evans II of Little Elm, Texas; one sister, Maloyce
Dickson (Danny Turner), of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Kennedy Evans
and Calvin Evans III; three nieces, Tara Dickson, Bridgett Baker and Zerlina
Reed (Courtney and Joshua); one sister-in-law, Linda Dickson; and a host of
nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
