Heroes never die, they live on forever in the hearts and mind of those who would follow in their footsteps.
McArther Walker, Sr, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of 81.
Born on March 28, 1943, in Grapeland, Texas, McArther was the firstborn of twelve children to Mr. Jeff and Dora Mae Walker.
McArther's journey began during a time of segregation in the United States. Despite the challenges in the world during his upbringing, he thrived at W.R. Banks High School, an all-black institution dedicated to educating young African American children before the integration of Grapeland public schools.
After graduating, he chose a path of service, enlisting in the United States (U.S.) Army. Over his 24-year military career, he traveled the world, with his time in Germany holding a special place in his heart. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Jutta. Together, they built a life filled with mutual love, respect, and admiration that endured for 39 years until his passing. To this union his beloved daughter, Sandra, was born.
McArther's family was not just his greatest joy, but the heart and soul of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jutta Walker, one daughter, Sandra Walker, and two sons.

From McArther, each of them can carry forward his legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering love, a testament to the deep bonds he fostered.
McArther also leaves one brother, Kent Walker (Stephanie); six sisters, Ellen Shepherd, Mary Lomax (Elbert Lomax), Linda Walker (William Murphy), Shirie Taylor (Eugene Taylor), Francis Phillips and Alphia Steinsbo. Sister-in-law Esther Walker, Sister -in-law Erika Tatarelli (Franco Tatarelli)
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other devoted family members and friends will mourn his passing.
McArther is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Jeff Walker,
John R. Walker, Eddie B. Walker and Larry Walker.
McArther’s character was that of a well-respected businessman, loyal friend and man of honor. After retiring from the U.S. Army, McArther returned to his beloved hometown of Grapeland, Texas.
McArther was so much more than his professional accomplishments to those who knew him. He was a loyal friend, a trusted colleague, and a steadfast community member. His love for the outdoors, whether hunting or simply enjoying nature, brought him peace and joy. Above all, he was a hard worker, a loving family man, and a shining example of fortitude and grace.
While his passing leaves a void in the lives of everyone he touched, McArther's memory will endure. His spirit lives on through his family, the countless lives he touched, and the lessons he imparted about perseverance, love, and the importance of community. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we also celebrate his life, his triumphs, and the indelible mark he left on the world.
McArther’s final testimony: As a young child, he confessed Christ, joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and was baptized. In his final hours, he held fast to the love of Christ and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior.
