Franklin D. McDaniel, affectionally known as Frank, graced this earth with his presence on February 16, 1951. He was born in Grapeland, Texas and was the beloved son of the late Marie and Robert McDaniel.
Franklin received his formal education from Grapeland High School. After leaving Grapeland, he completed his GED and received an associate degree in psychiatric care in Houston, Texas. Frank later went on to receive a certification from the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians. He was employed by Harris Health Systems for over 40 years as a psychiatric technician and he was a proud resident of Houston Texas for over 45 years. In 2015, he retired from Harris Health Systems to spend more time with family and friends. A few years after retirement, Frank relocated to Grapeland and later to Crockett to reside at Whitehall Nursing Home.
Franklin dedication his life to Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Church in Grapeland, Texas. As an adult, he joined the Church of the Living God District for Grapeland and Crockett under the leadership of Bishop Robert Frye and Bishop John L. McKnight. In Houston, he was a member of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ for many years. He later joined Divine Way COGIC in Houston, Texas.
In his leisure time, Frank enjoyed traveling to the annual Church of God in Christ Conference in Atlanta Georgia. He took pleasure in frequenting restaurants and spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo at Whitehall Rehab and Nursing with other residents.
Franklin D. McDaniel departed this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Hospice of East Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert McDaniel; his mother, Marie McDaniel; three brothers, Edward Lee McDaniel, Edward Wayne McDaniel, and Herbert McDaniel; and one sister, Genetha Taylor.
Franklin leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Robert Lee McDaniel (Lela), Alvis McDaniel (Helena), and Johnny B. McDaniel (Audrey); three sisters, Wanda McDaniel, Dorothy Harris (Anthony), and Louise Simon; uncles, John L. Walker and R. L. Walker; aunts, Isom Mae Wiley (Willie), Lillie Murray, Gladys Walker, Dorothy Purvis (Edward) ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
