Ollie Alene was born on February 12, 1924 to Silas Andrew Melson and Mattie Panola Lesley in Wapanuka, Oklahoma. She was one of seven children with four brothers and two sisters. She had a zest for life and a feistiness of no comparison.
Ollie married the love of her life, Vernon Texas Collier on May 25, 1940. A beautiful 16 year old girl married a hardworking 18 year old man and through all these years they made their love last. Together they raised two sons and two daughters. They celebrated 77 loving years together until Vernon’s passing in June 2017.
“Granny” will be remembered for her love of painting, sewing, quilting, and reading. Her fondest memories were spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ollie loved the Lord and was a member of Grapeland Missionary Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children. Sons: Dale Collier and wife Sylvia, and Roger Collier, late spouse Hope, all from Spring, TX. Daughters: Roxanne and husband Ted Bradley of Tomball, TX., and Vickie and husband Tommy Sullivan of Grapeland, TX. Ollie also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
