Rosie Lena Butler was born May 9, 1942 to the parents of the late W.B. Butler and Ellen Jane Green in Weldon, TX. She was their fourth child; who was called “Pookie” and was also known as Rose.
She attended W.R. Banks School in Grapeland, TX. Rosie met and married Jack Hale Jones and to this union 5 children were born. She was a devoted wife of 63 years. Rosie always supported her kids and attended their extracurricular activities. She was a mother to all.
Rosie obtained employment at Grapeland Hospital where she worked as a Certified Nurse Aid (C.N.A.), a Surgical Tech, and assisted with the delivery of babies. After she retired, she enjoyed babysitting local kids in the community.
She attended Pennington Chapel Baptist Church and later became a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church where she remained and worked in the office of Choir President, Mission Treasurer and Kitchen Supervisor. Rosie loved her Rising Star Church Family.
She kept a spotless house, and was a master chef in the kitchen, but she was known for her famous seven-up pound cake and syrup cake.
Rosie Lena Jones transitioned from this life into the life of eternal rest and peace on June 3, 2022 at TruCare Nursing and Rehab Facility in Palestine, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents W.B. and Ellen Butler; son, Wayne Jones; brothers, Freddie C. Butler, John “Sonny Boy” Butler, James “Peter” Butler, and Willie Lee Butler; sisters Betty Rose Dancer, Bertha Mae Hadnot, Elaine Butler, and Ethel Jewel Coleman.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 63 years, Mr. Jack H. Jones, son Tony Jones, daughter Linda (Clarence) Johnson all from Grapeland, TX. Diane (Gralyn) Crawford of Tucker, TX, Darlene Jones of Huntsville, TX; a granddaughter she raised as her own child, Kimberly (Michael) Hatton of Palestine, TX; brother Jimmy Lee (Regina) Butler of Grand Prairie, TX, sisters Ruby Kent of Grapeland, TX and Margie Butler of Crockett, TX; two special sisters-in-law Dorothy Butler and Inez Davis; a dear brother-in-law, Mr. Fred Jones and special friends Mrs. Addie Smith, Mrs. Zona B. Pouncy and Ms. Annette Hazley. Left to carry on her legacy are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
