Alvis David Davis

Alvis David Davis (69) of Grapeland, TX, was the oldest of nine children, born December 28, 1946, to Ben Frank Davis and Rachel Thompson. He was raised in Grapeland, TX and attended school at W.R. Banks. After high school, he worked as a logger, farmer, and mechanic. Mr. Davis transitioned Monday, July 4, 2016, at Elkhart Oaks Nursing Home in Elkhart, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, one (1) brother Michael Davis, and one (1) nephew Iris Dancer. Left to cherish his memories is wife Carolyn Lewis Davis; sons David (Victoria) Davis, Bobby (Cecilia) Davis, and Charles and Loyd Mitchell all of Grapeland, TX, Alvin (Tasha) Davis, Palestine, TX, Johnny Dancer, Loyde Mitchell and Tracy James of Houston, TX, David Mitchell, Crockett, TX; daughters Rachel (Darrell) Davis, Tawanna Mitchell and Debra Mitchell of Houston, TX, Rochelle Mitchell of Grapeland, TX; brothers Ben Davis, Clyde (Kay Kay) Thompson, and Bobby Lee Hart of Grapeland, TX, Ira Davis, Palestine, TX; sisters Pauline (Billy) Dancer, Clydia Mae Hart, and Francis Hart of Grapeland, TX; twenty-five (25) grandchildren, fourteen (14) great-grandchildren; special sister Bertha Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Visitation: Walker & Walker Funeral Home July 8, 2016, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
