Dorothy Jean Lenox Johnston
Dorothy Johnston of Kennard, Texas, passed away at Winfield Nursing Home in Crockett, Texas, on May 21, 2024, at the age of 70 after a long battle with liver failure. Dorothy lived life precisely on her terms until the very end. This fiercely independent, pink-haired, East Texas woman marched through her days to the beat of her drum, unbothered by societal expectations or the opinions of others. Those closest to Dorothy recognized her for the genuine person she was - a woman who lived life authentically, spoke her mind freely, and answered only to herself. Her loved ones admired Dorothy's unapologetic zest for life and stubborn attitude. The world is dimmer without Dorothy's bright, unfiltered spirit. In her honor, may we all lead with the same realness, embracing our quirks and truths that make us uniquely ourselves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Johnston; son, Jared Johnston; parents, Marie and Harold Lenox; brothers, David and Jimmy Lenox. Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Mary Lenox and husband Javencio of Porter Springs; son, Joseph Johnston and wife Amanda of Kennard; son, Jeremiah Johnston, and wife Paola of Spring; daughter, Mariah Dickey, and husband Seth of Baton Rouge; daughter in love, Carly Foster and husband Jonathan of Crockett; grandchildren, Zeke, Aiden, Tristan, Brody, Mia, Raeah, Liam, Dakoda, Nohwa, Charli, Ariah, and Nova; nephews, Sam, Donnie, Tony, Lance, Damon, and Gary; and numerous other family and friends. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that monetary donations be made to help with burial costs and other funeral expenses.
